drive

We got on the road at 11:00am. Rachel fell asleep about 30 minutes into the trip. Jason was entraced with his movies and believe it or not, Steve and I managed to watch (or I watched and Steve listened to) 3 movies during this day on a separate DVD player. It really made the time go quickly!

We stopped for lunch at McDonalds and let the kids play in the playland. The most unusual thing happened. Jason, who would never climb upwards in playlands like this (he didn't participate in his friends birthday party that was at a place with climbing-type playgrounds) actually climbed up to the top of the play area and went down the slide - multiple times! At first, Steve tried to go up with him and he freaked out and said he was scared. 5 minutes later, he wandered in alone, climbed to the top, walked across the blocks and went down the slide! I could NOT believe it! It was hard to pay attention to him though as Rachel insisted on climbing into the slides and actually crawled her way half way into the tunnel of the slide!

Rachel remained awake for the next 3 hours but was REALLY good - just a little minor fussiness. I was shocked at this as well. She really was entertained by Jason's shows so that is how we managed to be up in the front watching movies ourselves. :)

We drove for 10 hours today stopping at 9:00. The kids were SUCH troopers! What an easy drive with 2 small children. We are very lucky.
